Short-term care
Short-term care
If residents are unable to cover their own monthly contribution through their current income (e.g. pensions, rental income and interest income) or their assets, they can apply for a care allowance. The prerequisites for this are
- the need for care is at least care level 2,
- the existing assets do not exceed the asset limit of €10,000 (single persons) or €15,000 (married couples).
If the remaining personal contribution per month cannot be covered by current income plus the nursing home allowance, there may be a claim for "uncovered nursing home costs", which can be applied for via the social welfare office. One of the prerequisites for this is that existing assets do not exceed €10,000 (€20,000 for married couples). A house or property owned by the resident is included in the assets. We are happy to advise our residents and their relatives on these issues.
